Questions about Cooper, Harper, and other rookies

Although there are still four months left until the NBA draft night in June 2025, with many variables involved, the biggest label of this year's draft may be youthfulness. In the ESPN Top 100 rankings, the average age of the top 30 players on draft night is only 19.6 years old, including 18 freshmen.
For example, this year's top scorer, Duke University star Cooper Flagg, is one of the youngest players of the season. He only turned 18 on December 21st last year. Among the top five players predicted, Dylan Harper, Ace Berry, and Caspas Yakujonis are all under 19 years old. Meanwhile, only 6 of the top 30 potential rookies on our ESPN leaderboard are veterans who have been in college for many years.
This is in stark contrast to last year's draft, which was the oldest in recent years - according to ESPN's statistics on the post-2009 draft, the age of the 2024 draft is 21.2 years old, reaching a historical high. Usually, the organic combination of age and talent of players has long-term appeal to NBA teams, which makes this draft more attractive as the season progresses.
A senior executive of a Western Conference team said, "This draft is younger and the overall talent level of the players is higher. Last year, there were no players like Cooper Flagg running, not even players like Harper, Pele, or VJ Edgecomb. The upper limit of this group of players is much higher. I don't look down on Zachary Risashir, but I don't think players of his level will have a chance to enter the top five this year
In the vast majority of years, as the draft draws near, the draft market for seniors often begins to rise, as some seniors choose to return to school and NBA teams rely on the draft to gain immediate power. Although this situation may change, according to current predictions, the 2025 draft may be the youngest overall age of candidates in recent years, and may even rank high in history.
Except for six international players who made it to our Top 30 list, this draft will be endorsed by this group of young people under the spotlight. As the NCAA season draws to a close, now is a great opportunity to focus on these freshmen, as some of them only have a few weeks left to leave a lasting impression.
So starting from Flagg, we selected 15 freshmen who were highly regarded by executives and anonymously interviewed NBA scouts to ask each player their biggest questions.
